WELCOME
We invite you to view our superlative range of distinct, period
finishes, all of which are skillfully hand applied to our own UK
sourced, genuine hardwood poles.

As a result of this, we are able to offer an accomplished
collection of finishes, all of exceptional quality.

We are proud of our heritage and it is no coincidence that
all of our finishes are the result of specialist techniques
perfected over our 27 years of trading
.

Traditional methods and green credentials...
We purposely use conventional methods and materials when applying
our finishes, as well as carefully paying attention to our environmental
responsibilities.
We do not use tinted cellulose lacquers for our wood finishes, nor do
we use the nitrocellulose lacquers for our painted finishes.
Instead, we have opted for low VOC waterborne emulsions, natural chalk
paints and traditional French polish. All give a superior finish with infinitely
more character, as well as having less of an impact on the environment.
Individuality...
In using these traditional methods, our poles and accessories take on
a rather unique, time worn appearance.
As each order is genuinely hand finished by ourselves, you may rest
assured that your poles will have a quality, depth of finish and
individuality that is rarely attainable using a more mechanical approach.
Versatility...
As we produce all of our products ourselves, we are often able to
respond to our customer's specific finishing requirements.
This allows
us to offer a more versatile and flexible approach to customer service.
Reassurance and peace of mind...
No matter which finish you choose, we can promise you a unique quality
synonymous with the highly respected and firmly established Resina/Advent brands.
This unique quality will leave you assured that you have specified a
superbly crafted product; the design and character of which will have
endured the test of time.
WOOD FINISHES
TRADITIONAL WOOD
We offer a range of 7 distinct, period colours, all skillfully hand
applied to our own UK sourced, genuine hardwood poles.
The resulting finish is one of exceptional quality and will be a
perfect complement for any of the sumptuous, high end fabrics
currently available through top designer outlets.

To enable us to obtain such a high class finish, we have deliberately
elected not to use the normal, tinted cellulose based lacquers
(with their dubious environmental credentials). Instead, we favour
the
time honoured, traditional method of finishing wood . . . by
French Polishing

It is how all our poles, brackets and finials are finished, and along
with the variety of hardwood we use, we feel justified in saying that we offer some of the best finished poles currently available in the
market place.

French polishing is one of the classic finishes for wooden furniture,
which came to the fore in the late 19th Century. In spite of the
recent trend for so called 'high tech', cheaper lacquers, there
remains no other finish that seems to enhance the depth and
natural beauty of wood grain like shellac. Wood that has been
finished with shellac imparts a softer and more natural patina than
many of its modern day counterparts and will sit very comfortably
with any similarly finished, antique furniture in the room.

VINTAGE WOOD
Distressed Oak... perhaps the ideal solution for those seeking
a more rustic, authentically aged look without wishing to wait a
hundred years or so!

The clever use of chalk based stains and base paints together with
antique waxes combine to give an almost reclaimed timber look to
the curtain poles within this Collection.

Great for barn conversions, period cottages and indeed, anywhere
where a more vintage look is sought.

STANDARD PAINT FINISHES
We offer a range of 20 distinct, period colours, all skillfully hand applied to our own UK sourced, genuine hardwood poles. The
paints and lacquers we use for our Standard Paint finishes
(as well as our Shabby Chic finishes) are all water based.
We have deliberately chosen not to use any cellulose based products, preferring to utilise more natural products which in our opinion, give a superior, more crafted feel to the finish as well as being more environmentally friendly.

All of the colours available within this range have been chosen by
us based on their proven popularity as well as their soft, muted
tones that will complement a variety of both classic and vintage
style fabrics. They are not designed to make a bold statement,
but rather their soft, waxed sheen allows them to blend seamlessly
into any traditional period setting.

For each finish within this range, the paint is applied by hand in
many layers to build up sufficient depth onto our hardwood poles,
without completely obliterating the grain. This gives our poles a
distinct character which sets them apart from many others with
their more manufactured and 'plastic coated' appearance.

SHABBY CHIC FINISHES
Inspired by traditional painted furniture, our 'shabby chic' finishes
have a certain charm and character that sits perfectly well in Town
Houses and Country Cottages alike.

Choose from our Distressed Paint or Vintage Paint finishes...either
of which will complement your chosen scheme. As previously
mentioned, all the paints and lacquers that we use are water based.
DISTRESSED PAINT
A process whereby the top coat required is applied over a
complementary coloured base coat. The items are then distressed
by hand to allow areas of the base coat to show through and are
finally finished with a natural wax for a soft sheen. This results in an
authentic 'aged' appearance.

Our standard base coat colour is Wainscott Brown from the renowned
Farrow and Ball selection of paints. However, you may opt for
whichever base coat you wish.

VINTAGE PAINT
A superior finish from a bygone era...the perfect accompaniment
for vintage fabric and period styling. Similar to our Standard
Paint range, but with a little more character and a genuine
'old paint' feel.

An 'old fashioned' chalk paint is applied to our hardwood poles
over several layers and then softened by a blend of antique
waxes carefully hand applied and polished to a soft sheen.

The five colours in this range have been carefully selected for
their tonal neutrality with a slightly faded appearance to enable
them to sit well against many of today's vintage style fabrics.

METALLIC PAINT FINISHES
Our metallic finishes are made using specialist metal powders
suspended in various mediums and varnishes, all prepared in our
own studio. These are skillfully hand applied over several layers,
together with a contrasting coloured highlighter to give added depth.
Finally, all are finished off with the application of antiquing wax,
which is designed to remain in the 'low lying' detail to further
enhance the appearance. All these stages combine to form a
durable finish to our hardwood poles and have become one of our
most requested finishes over the years.

There are 7 colours to choose from in this Collection.

Distressed Gold, Silver and Bronze
These 3 popular finishes offer a genuine period feel, which is
achieved by lightly distressing a highlighted metallic base layer,
to reveal a subtle red ground.

Vintage Gold
This finish is not distressed in the normal manner. Alternatively, we
utilise specific metal powders together with a tinted wash, giving
this finish a rather desirable 'flatter' yet aged appearance, that
would sit comfortably in any 'Shabby Chic' scheme.

Silver Gilt
An unusual yet subtle combination of a pale gilt varnish carefully
distressed over a red ground. Finally a soft, silver highlight is
applied to achieve this rather unique, two tone metallic effect.

Pewter
A surprisingly realistic representation of the metal itself. This finish
would make an excellent alternative to our Distressed Silver where
a more antiquated and muted tone is required.

Bespoke Options
As mentioned above, our Distressed Gold, Silver and Bronze
finishes are all antiqued over a red ground. As an alternative, you
may specify a different colour ground, for instance black or cream,
to create a look that will complement your particular choice
of fabric.

CLASSIC GOLD & SILVER METAL LEAF FINISHES
A SIGNATURE RANGE OF GOLDS AND SILVERS

Our signature range of classical golds and silvers have become
synonymous with historic buildings, from Stately Homes to grand
Town Houses and was first perfected and offered to some of our
more prestigious clients some 27 years ago.

A more reflective and lustrous appearance than our standard
metallic finishes, our Metal Leaf has become the preferred choice
where a more refined gold or silver colour is required. The very
traditional method of oil gilding using Dutch metal leaf is applied
to our hardwood poles over a coloured ground.

Our Standard Gold and Silver Metal Leaf are the most burnished
and brightest of our Metal Leaf finishes, as any distressing is kept
to a minimum.

Our Antique versions are distressed to reveal the coloured
ground beneath and are then slightly toned using a tinted
French polish.

All versions are finished using antique wax which is most
noticeable in the low lights of finials and brackets etc and will
all mellow slightly with age.

GILT HIGHLIGHTS
All our finials, poles, brackets and tiebacks are supplied without
gilt
highlights as standard.

However, you may specify half gilt highlights or full gilt highlights
in either a gold metallic colour or a silver metallic colour.  Please
see the images below. These clearly illustrate the difference
between the two gilt highlighting options. Whilst most of our finials
are available in a half gilt highlight, not all of them are suitable
for the full gilt highlight option due to their design.

If you require assistance in your choice, please contact our Sales
Team on 01749 871117 or e-mail us at sales@resinadesigns.co.uk

Colour Options
You may specify any colour from our English Colour Palette Collection
featured under the 'Standard Paint Finishes' section above. Additionally,
you may also specify any colour from the many hundreds of shades
available from other paint manufacturers.

These include Dulux Trade, Farrow and Ball, Little Greene Paint
Company and Zoffany etc.

If you require a more aged, antiqued appearance then you may specify
our Antique Wax finish. This will have a very similar effect to our
standard Vintage Paint finish. The advantage of choosing antique wax
is that this can be applied to any Distressed Paint finish. It must be
noted that the antique wax process will change the overall tonal
appearance of the original colour.

Please see the below image for an example of antique waxing.
